Product Overview
Iron concentrate is a fine black powder produced from iron ores such as magnetite and hematite through crushing, grinding and magnetic separation. It is free of waste and tailings, and its iron grade is typically between 65% and 68%. Concentrate is the main feed for pelletising plants and is also used to produce sponge iron.

Production Process
Primary crushing
Run-of-mine ore is crushed to about 20 cm using jaw and cone crushers
Grinding
Material is ground in ball mills to below 150 microns to increase mineral liberation
Magnetic separation
Magnetic separators split the iron mineral from the tailings, raising the grade of the product
Dewatering and delivery
The concentrate is dewatered in disc filters and shipped wet or dry as required
Applications
Pellet production
The primary use of concentrate; the main feed for Iran's pelletising plants
Sponge iron production
In some direct reduction processes the concentrate is used directly as feed
Sinter production
Sinter feedstock for blast furnaces in ironmaking plants
Resource recovery
Low-grade ore and tailings can be returned to the production cycle through concentrate production
